Indu Bhushan served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of National Health Authority and Ayushman Bharat, a flagship health assurance scheme of the Government of India from April 2018 to January 2021. As CEO, he led the design, development and the rollout of the scheme, and oversaw its implementation in the country. Indu Bhushan has a career spanning across a multitude of sectors. He worked as Senior Economist with the World Bank Group prior to moving to the Asian Development Bank where he worked for more than 2 decades and held several senior leadership positions. He holds a PhD in Health Economics and a Master of Health Sciences from the Johns Hopkins University (JHU), USA. JHU recently bestowed on him the Global Achievement Award. He is an alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology-Banaras Hindu University (IIT BHU) and IIT Delhi where he completed his B. Tech and Post-Graduate Diploma, respectively. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.
